Not many hotels or guest houses existed before Ladakh was put on the international tourist map. The first few hotels in Leh town of Ladakh came up early in the year 1974, when for the first time Ladakh was thrown open to tourists from all over the world. The opening up of Ladakh for tourists also marked the entry of entrepreneurs in the field of establishment and running of hotels to cater to the ever-growing needs of the tourists.
Hotel Dragon in Leh town of Ladakh was one such establishment by the entrepreneur named Din Mohammad of the Abdu family. The hotel had a humble beginning and today it has become synonymous to the world class facilities and consummate customer services. Those were the days when the tourist visiting from foreign countries was just in trickle. However, the scenario changed dramatically in the following years attracting a huge crowd from all over the world. This demanded the need for increase in accommodation and the expansion in facilities for the comfort of the tourists.
